The way out for a Republican candidate is to simply reiterate that abortion is a state issue, not a federal issue. Which is what Dobbs did. I don't think abortion is going to be an albatross for Republicans if they frame it as a state's choice. California is free to do as it wishes. And so is Missouri. Don't think too many votes will be won or lost with that position. But any candidate advocating for some kind of nationwide ban or severe restrictions is dead in the water.

There are too many indepedent pro-choice women, and too many GenZ new voters who will not support an anti-choice candidate.

And, there are too many white male MAGAs who will not vote for anyone but Trump.

I agree with this. Much of Biden's support is simply the anti-Trump vote. If republicans were to nominate a smart, charismatic, quick-witted woman as their candidate, it would be all over for old, senile, dimwitted, eighty-something Joe Biden. Fortunately for democrats, republicans do not seem particularly interested in winning and are likely to stick with Trump. And Trump, with his 91 indictments and another expected bankruptcy, would lose to a potted plant.

I'm a Dem but Biden/Harris is not a ticket that works.

I am socially liberal and 100000% pro choice so I could not vote GOP.

But among the choices last night it would have to be DeSantis/Haley. I can't stand Scott, Pence, Vivak. Christie won't fly for party nomination they hate him, on platform I would be better with him. Same about Haley. Abortion issue is ultimately by biggest hang up with her.

I think Dems need another candidate or it's possible either Trump or DeSantis or Haley stand a chance.
