That was back when we had RvW and assumed SCOTUS ruling would hold. No one could have predicted the extent that the extremists would go to to secure justices. We didn’t know how unscrupulous they really were.

Recent elections do not hold here

**currently** has reasonable times

Clearly, the Rs are looking to ban as much as they can. There were already three bills this year that the D senate blocked.

Seems like you’re not following recent trends in Rs banning abortion.

You won’t give a crap about any of that if crime skyrockets. My guess is you are wealthy enough to be able to avoid those realities.

Wow. I almost hurt my neck watching that non sequitur fly by.

Women who don’t think abortion are at risk are ignorant.

Abortion should be limited, which Dems in VA decidedly did NOT want to do.

It is already limited and most Ds think the current laws are reasonable. The vast majority of Virginians (Ds & Rs) either want the laws to stay the same or become less strict. Only a small portion of VA wants to limit them even more.

"Half of Virginians polled (50%) said that state abortion laws are reasonable and should not be altered while 25% said they are too lenient and 18% said they are too strict. Democrats were more likely to say that Virginia’s abortion laws are either reasonable (56%) or too strict (35%)"

It *is* limited. It doesn't need to be limited any more.

DP- For many years, the idea was "safe, legal and rare". I would not describe abortion as "rare" today, thus a lot of the pushback by opponents.

Like most forced birthers you have no idea what you're talking about. When Clinton was talking about “safe, legal and rare” there were 1.6 million abortions annually in the US. Now there are less than a million while the US population is much larger.

Don’t let facts get in the way of PP’s misogyny.

The idea is women get to control their own lives and their own bodies.

This isn't some new position for conservatives. And abortion rates have been dropping for decades.

Nice try. Republicans want to ban abortion, full stop. You can’t change that by attempting to flip the issue around. The mainstream Democratic position on reproductive freedom is popular, whereas the Republican position is so repellant that Republican candidates and voters don’t want to talk about it. Ignoring it doesn’t make it any less true.

+1

Youngkin: we can't be honest during an election or we will lose voters
