Men who have never had kids of their own often change their mind down the road: Ashton Kutcher, Jon Hamm, Brad Pitt, etc.

I remember the tabloids quoting Vergara as saying that Mangianello wanted kids, way back when they were engaged. So I don’t think it was a surprise to her.

She came out a few years ago when she got together with Joe and said she wasn’t interested in having any more children. She was clear about those intentions when they married. It’s obvious he changed his mind which is well within his right, but as another poster pointed out, he now is going to be a dad of a baby in his 50s, which comes with its own issues.
It could also just be an excuse… the story with Justin Theroux was that he and Jen ended things because he wanted babies… That was 6 years ago and the guy is 52 and no closer to having kids - in fact he’s dating a mid 20s women who’s probably not interested in having kids for another five years at least I’m most likely not with him.

Also we all get old if we're lucky. And we'll all go through periods of loneliness no matter how many kids we have.
I don't think she'll be hurting for suitors if she wants to date or get married again. She's one of the most beautiful, and wealthy, women in all the world.
Anyway she seems to have made the calculation and decided she'd rather divorce than have another child at this stage of life, so no matter what you think of that decision it's one she decided is best for her.
Also why is brunch granny so weird?!

My friend is going through this now. She and her partner moved in together when she was 35 and he was 32. They talked about having kids and she emphasized that they would have to start trying right away if they were going to try to have a child. He said he didn't want any. She turned 40 six months ago and now suddenly he might want kids. Of course he's still not motivated or interested enough to talk to her about their options. He just...might want kids. She's done some preliminary appointments on her own and just got diagnosed with endometriosis.
He's clearly going to leave her eventually but neither of them is communicating. It's very frustrating to watch.
Clearly, this couple has major red flags that have nothing to do with wanting children. They have major communication issues. It’s ridiculous to think well they communicate beautifully about everything else but about the biggest life choice a person can make…..They just can’t figure it! Clearly they have major cracks in the foundation.
I also find it passive aggressive when a man waits to a woman is around 40 and all of a sudden decides he wants kids. He’s probably starting to have a midlife crisis feeling like he’s getting old and wants a last grasp at youth while deep down knowing that it is too late. It doesn’t sound like a stable or healthy way to start the parenthood journey. I hope if they split does some soul-searching and get some counseling.

Irrelevant. The first PP claimed Sophia was in her 50s and had been likely barren for 20 years at the time of her marriage. Her age and being barren for 20 years is false. And if you read what you were responding to, you’d see I said she could have had kids if she wanted.

Will not happen. That ex will never get a dime of her money (what he is after, not kids). She'll find a new partner and enjoy her unencumbered life, as she should. Ageist nonsense to suggest otherwise.
