Sydney (Ayo) is an amazing character and actor. And she’s been given scraps this season. The 3 damn brothers are irking the hell out of me. I just finished episode 5. I’m not really enjoying season this yet….except for Malik and Sugars defense of him as pastry chef!

Loved the first two seasons but so far this one has been a very extended Trent Reznor-soundtracked “Previously on the Bear” segment and very little character interaction besides Carmy and Richie yelling “f you” at each other. And not in a funny way. Is the show rebelling because the Emmys called it a comedy? Is this season full of filler because they only planned for three seasons and they just got greenlighted for a third and a fourth? Also, having a whole different menu every single day is insane and doing all this and still not making a profit is worse. If it’s packed every day and you’re still not making money, raise the prices or control your costs.

Me back again and have now watched three more episodes. The 4-6 seem more like good normal TV episodes so I am happier. The one about Tina was very good.

Just finished the Tina episode. I’d been disappointment in the first few episodes but the Tina backstory was excellent.

JAW is playing the same character he played on Shameless, with a chef’s uniform. And Ayo’s the one without range?
I’d watch the heck out of a show with Sydney and Richie instead of JAW and “Claire Bear” (groan).

Season 3 is garbage and JAW is part of the reason. I so hope the next season (if I watch) begins with Sydney running her own restaurant.

I can’t watch it because of all the yelling. I watch shows after 9 when kids are asleep and just hate the yelling.

Just wrapped the season and thought the finale was a bit of a cliff hanger and annoying. Carmy has had no emotional growth at all.

I think his growth is coming next season. This season was about him being stuck and it hurting himself, other people, and the restaurant. All his joy and love was gone from his cooking.

+1

No character development. Either f yous or really really deep conversations.

I hope they are setting up a Fak spinoff, it certainly seemed that way with frequent comedic asides that have nothing to do with the story. Or maybe they are just haunting me

Did not like all of the screaming (no matter how representative) in Season 1. It stressed me out and I did not find it an enjoyable watch. Season 2 was much better. So many mixed thoughts on S3 that I'm not that excited to watch. But I will.

I'm only part way through, but I'm enjoying it so far. I still like S2 the best so far.

I agree that "nothing happened" in the first episode, but I also loved the vibes and seeing his growth was exciting. Very different type of episode for sure.

Thanks for this! I guess a personal issue of mine is needing to read an article to understand the episode. It should stand on its own.

I just read the linked article. I feel like that was all pretty obvious while watching. It did seem jarring at first until realizing this was the flow of the entire episode. The storytelling was different. The non linear aspect took a bit to dial into for sure. It was a bit of work.
