For those who are looking for a sleep away camp experience for their children, I recommend the camps associated with the Aloha Foundation in Fairlee, VT. There are a number of local DMV families whose children attend.
There are three residential camps (two girls’ camps and one boys’ camp) and opportunities for kids 8-16. Right now, I believe they have a few spaces for 8-10 year olds specifically for this summer. There are half session (3.5 weeks) and full session (7 weeks) spots. The kids have lots of opportunities to swim, hike, sail, play, and enjoy nature.
I’m happy to chat with anyone who wants to know about our experience (both my kids starts at 7 and 8).

Quickly: For more than 100 years, the Alohas have been known for their outstanding summer camps—and so much more.
By stepping away from technology and immersing ourselves in a simpler, natural world, we are able to focus on what matters most: authentic relationships, connection, community.
The word we hear most often to describe Aloha Foundation camps and programs? Transformative.
