why not? don't have sex until you can walk into a drug store and buy what you need. Yes it's embarrassing. You do it anyway. If it's too embarrassing, you're not ready. And if a teen guy thinks they are ready to have sex, they are old enough to walk into a drug store and buy condoms.

Probably mostly at Catholic colleges.

Girls don't plan on having sex so they aren't on birth control, or are ashamed to ask for it.

If its not uncommon then their should be more education, prevention and solutions should be in easy access. These are 17-18 year old girls, they alone can't be held responsible, school, parents, government and society should help.

UMD Freshman class has about 4,000 kids
so let's say she knows about 100 kids
so just 2% of the population not uncoomon.

No one I knew was having sex freshman year. Later in college there were two friends that I knew of, one had the baby and the other one did not. These were at prestigious LACs (seven sisters and similar). One friend was using double protection but was on an anti-seizure medication, and both forms failed.
