Tysons never turns out in elections, especially primaries. This is about Vienna really.

Ditto to the Saslaw vs Taeb race. Difference here is that Chap is much more controversial than Saslaw, and that unlike Taeb, Salim is actually a good candidate. Problem is Salim has barley raised any money to be effective. But money doesn't always buy votes!

He’s a rich little douche canoe who wears seersucker and sucks up to whoever is aroud him and giving him the most compliments. He stands for nothing but pandering and being told he is so great for being a rebel. Like Northern Virginia’s Joe Lieberman, minus Judaism and plus seersucker. VOMIT

What was his former district that found that acceptable?

The Gen Z of Salim supporters need a history lesson.

In the early 2000s, same-sex marriage was not widely supported in the United States. Until 2012, it was political suicide to come out and support same sex marriage. In 2004, only 42% of Americans supported same-sex marriage. At that time, even Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden did not support same-sex marriage. Then-Senator Clinton only voted down a federal ban on same sex marriage in 2004 but remarked she believed marriage was between a man and a woman. In 2008, Biden also opening opposed same sex marriage along with every other Democrat running for president that year. During the VP debates, Biden stated "neither he nor Obama supported transforming civil unions into marriages." It was not until 2012 when Biden openly supported same sex marriage during a live broadcast without the approval of the White House that the political winds in support of same sex marriage started to turn. By 2015, when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, 55% of Americans supported it. Yes, today, support for same-sex marriage has continued to increase with a record-high 70% of Americans supporting it in 2021. This is a significant increase from the 27% of Americans who supported legal recognition of gay and lesbian marriages in 1996, when Gallup first asked the question.

It's important to recognize that people change over time, and their opinions and actions may not reflect who they are today. Instead of focusing on past opinions, it's more productive to listen to what a person is saying and doing right now. Right now, the Salim campaign has produced only negative ads in this race. Negative campaigning can be effective in some cases, but it can also be detrimental to a candidate's reputation and the election process. It can also lead to increased polarization and decreased trust in the political process. Salim should consider focusing on his own platform and policies, rather than attacking Chap.

What makes you think Salim will win Falls Church? He might win a few precincts here and there…

Can everyone vote in the primaries? Is it next Tuesday?

Any registered voter can vote in the primary, because there is no Republican primary. (If there were a Republican primary, any individual voter could vote in either primary, but could not vote in both).

Are they Republicans running in Novemebr?

There is in Chap's district, someone named Ken Reid: https://www.vpap.org/offices/state-senate-37/elections/

But the district is pretty heavily weighted Democratic, so whomever wins the Democratic primary is most likely - barring some sort of epic meltdown - going to win in November

In 2004, the Virginia legislature voted overwhelmingly against civil unions. 105 legislators voted against the measure, and 31 voted for the measure. It's not like Chap took an unpopular position 20 years ago. Even Hillary Clinton changed her views during that time.

It was absolutely unpopular for many people back then.

The VA GA was a Republican sheethole until very recently. They were pushing forced vaginal probes for women seeking abortions, etc.

I live in the area and have seen more Salim signs, it's possible Chap can win here with Independent and Moderate support, but the overall enthusiasm for Democrats, the main voting bloc here seem to favor Salim.

Like I said, I still think Salim is the underdog of the race, but he does have a pathway if he plays his cards right.
