Not sure why they moved grade six to middle school campus. I am sure people are leaving after grade 5 now. NPS has Malcom Lester who is a powerhouse. Have your child visit both and go from there. Good luck op.

Former parent from St. Patrick’s. We loved it. There is a new head so not sure how the school has changed. I have two alumni at different privates in the dmv now. I know there is interest in Mr. Brophy from area high schools to be athletic director ( one of which my child attends). I would think that his time at St. Patrick’s won’t be for much longer.

Current parent. That would be a disaster. Trust the leadership that they would make sure that does not happen if they can.

Agree. That would be terrible for the school. I am upset just thinking about it being a possibility. Won’t tell my kids that rumor 🫣.

My husband said he would double what any other school offered! I also will not be telling my kids this rumor. Fingers crossed it’s just that.

Another thing.More administers should act like Mr. Brophy. He gets along with everyone. He starts the day with a smile and it isn’t fake. He returns emails promptly. He doesn’t try to bulldoze people. He is genuinely kind and wants the best. He can convince the most reluctant kid to give a sport a try and figured out where each kid can shine. He can also communicate with parents in a positive way.

Mr Brophy should for sure be an athletic director at a high school should he choose. Maybe a school that starts K though since he is incredible at developing young athletes. On St Pats curriculum, I will disagree from some comments I have read. Most kids we know who have moved on from St Pats either after 6th or 8th have gone on to excel at top schools. They were prepared at St Pats.

St. Patrick’s was a wonderful experience for my two children. I have friends that loved NPS. OP I hope he you attended both open houses and have your child shadow at both.

Mr. Brophy is still well loved in my house. Happy to hear he still working his magic. My children loved art and music as well at st. Pats. Overall a wonderful place to be a kid. Good luck.

Our child was in the class at St. Pat’s that had the “exodus” of boys. There were serious behavioral and bullying problems in that grade that St. Pat’s did not handle well and seemed to be in over their heads / exasperated with. They blamed a lot on Covid. Very disappointing experience and I am so glad we left when we did. Also, the curriculum was not challenging and was lacking in so many ways.

Our children are at NPS but we were also impressed with St Pats and only chose NPS because it was closer to our house. We love NPS and our kids love school but I think both are excellent and kids generally have great options after either.

And remember, this is true everywhere, at every school, preschool through college!

We were choosing between St. Pat's and NPS last year for PK4 and we picked NPS. I think we would have been happy at either school but I've been really impressed by how kind and nurturing the PK4 team is and in general how thoughtful the school is about creating a good environment for its youngest community members.

The head was lovely as was the admissions director. We attended short classes led by the teachers. They were great. One of the classes was with the much spoken about on this thread Mr. Brophy. It was awesome! I get it. Facilities might need an upgrade but it seemed like a happy and welcoming community.

We will be attending NPS campus tour on December 1. Excited to see how they compare. We are looking for kindergarten next fall.

Any feedback from the NPS open house?
