I care more about the safety issues of these large trucks vs environmental (which is also important). You're far more likely to die or be seriously injured by these things vs a car.

Anyway, once I got to the parking lot, they were all talking and loading their groceries. They all have the exact type of car a HUGE white SUV. [b]My first car in high school was a Prius. [i] Dh wants an SUV but I am adamant about having a sedan. We have two kids, and it's fine. Do these people not care about global warming? We had an earthquake a week ago, killing thousands of people. Driving these huge cars is such a waste and global warming contributes to more earthquakes. I went from living in an apartment to this. It's such a big change.

I never had a car in HS or college. You seem wasteful to me.

You probably had public transportation options. Not everyone has that available.
nope, we walked or waited for carpool

We had a Prius until we had our third kid. We got a Q7 when they were younger. Now we have a Telluride which isn’t huge but is a lot bigger than the Prius. But we have 3 bigger kids now and lots of stuff (plus a dog!) and really so take up all the space.

It's safer FOR YOU. It's actually more dangerous for everyone else.

It's cute how you think I meant anything other than "IT'S SAFER FOR ME"

we are aware.

I'm sure everyone other than me buys a car thinking "geez, how would a pedestrian feel if my new car hit him/her." What a stupid premise. What I do care about is that if another huge SUV/Truck hits my car on the highway. I'd rather be protected. And so would you, but apparently, you're too much of a troll to admit it.

DP.

In my case, I care only about my kids’ safety. MY KIDS COME FIRST! I will do anything to protect my children.

Any mom who would not put their kids first, well - there is something seriously wrong with that mom.

I drive a minivan. My children are just as safe as yours, for far less money and fuel. The only difference is that your image matters more to you than mine does to me.

Absurd. You are completely driven by what you think others will think of you.

I live in a townhouse that is less than 2000 Square feet. No house was torn down. This was a field. We couldn't get an existing house. Tried for 11 months. My work is five minutes away. Half of the community is south asian. We are an international family Turkish/ Asian. The community I live in is friendly and not flashy. I have noticed these other mom's at the birthday parties. Thanks for mentioning that travel sports doesn't mean they fly every weekend. I had no idea.

Did you immigrate just so you could tell Americans everything they are doing wrong?

Your field was a farm. There are never just fields. Fields are pastures for livestock or fallow between crops. And yes as people like you move into BRAND new construction, it probably looks like a field because the farmers have had to move on. I used to ride horses in several places in Northern Virginia that are now suburbs. One was right in the middle of Vienna. You judge others but obviously wouldn’t deign to live in existing homes even though doing so is far more environmentally conscious than new construction of any kind. You have zero moral high ground about the environment.

I no longer have a Prius. That was in high school and I pointed that out because that's how I grew up. It was very important to my parents that I don't contribute to global warming so hence the Prius. Big SUVs are so wasteful. That's a fact Americans love to ignore.

You and your family sound insufferable. We have a Prius AND a big big SUV. A Prius can’t tow my horses around a yes the horses fart and probably contribute to glow or warming too. You are ridiculous. Live your life and let other people live theirs. You have no idea why people do what they do or whether they tells you anything about their values. You just don’t.

So all the moms driving sedans have something wrong with them? Uh huh?

A friend used to bring kids to school in a Burly brand trailer, behind his e-bike, because that’s how he did it in Europe. Then he got hit by an SUV, which destroyed the e-bike.

You want to drive your kids around the DC area in a Smart Car? A Miata? Just bicycle everyplace?

OK - whatever.

It is your choice and your life (and your kids life). Feel free to make whatever judgements and decisions you like.

You are trying really hard to be dumb. No, they have nothing wrong with them, and neither do moms driving SUVs. Drop it already.

I drive a large SUV (downsized from a Suburban when first kid went to college). With 4 kids, it enabled me to have a friend for at least three of them in the car at the same time. I was able to transport many kids to birthday parties, games or playdates. I drove for people who "can't fit them all in my car." And yes, I felt like it was safer for my family. You do you, OP and I'll do me.

They are hideous looking, especially the Suburbans and Lincoln Navigators. If you have a big boned family with 5 kids, I can kind of understand how it could be somewhat functional. I guess it's better than all these weak dudes driving around in 60k F150s who don't know how to change a tire and never seem to be using their vehicle for its intended purpose.
