Do you think they would give Scalise a shot?

The GOP has no grownups in the room. All the grownups have quit over the last few years. Best of luck to the remaining toddlers.

How long until one of the GQPers starts yelling about voter fraud or a stolen election?

At some point they will adjourn and then lots of deal making will happen, and then you'll get a new slate without McCarthy (Scalise, Stefanik?) or a McCarthy deal with the Dems.

I'm not sure there is any person in the world who can satisfy the 19 no votes and the rest of the Republican caucus. The no votes want someone who will promise to burn it all down and the rest of them won't accept that person. So the only way someone wins that majority is successfully lying to one of those two groups.

Last time this happened it went 9 rounds, so they'll keep going until they chip away at those 19 anti-voters, or until enough Democrats get sick of this and go home, shifting the majority low enough for McCarthy to win.

No change. The 10 for Biggs and 9 for Other now all switched to Jordan.

203 - McCarthy
212 - Jeffries
19 - Jordan

He would need 6 Republicans to defect and vote for him.

Or 12 Republicans to vote present and vote for no one, reducing the threshold to 212. Seems very unlikely.

Compromise Speaker that rotates every year

I kind of love this idea:

Has anyone flipped to McCarthy? It seems like the Biggs/Banks people are now behind Jordan but that doesn’t help McCarthy.
