My goal this month is to reset from overindulgence in Nov/Dec to a more reasonable approach, such as a meet up with a friend. I had one small glass and still felt fine this morning but really enjoyed that glass more than if I'd had a glass or two every day over the past week while making or cooking dinner, watching tv or other daily tasks.

Back to dry today!

That's a win! I think part of Dry January is resetting the holiday indulgence and approaching wine as a treat that you can savor on occasion.

Agree, that's a win. I'm not doing Dry January myself, but last year made a conscious effort to be more mindful about my drinking post- pandemic stress, and not just pour a glass of wine every night out of habit. I indulged over the holidays, and now I'm back to just once or twice a week, which is where I want to be.

Hats off to those of you who are making the effort, especially the PP who went to New Orleans (where I would have failed, big time).

First few days were difficult, now I don’t want to wake up.

I did it two years in a row, this is the third and mine volunteered to do it with me and he is! I can't believe it. I feel very loved and supported. I'm not bragging. I overdrink and want to quit forever. Until this month, I'm not sure he understood how bad it was for me and how much I needed his support. I didn't even ask for it. I guess I'm a little in shock.

Just made plans for my mom to come stay with us the last weekend in Jan. Heaven help me.

I’m in and managed a work trip to New Orleans without partaking. I now have COVID which should buy me a few more days. Actually glad I hadn’t been drinking because I’m maybe more rested and hydrated than I would have been otherwise. I’m not an alcoholic but definitely drink too often (not quite every night, but close, and rarely have just one).

I am finding I need something else to drink with meals. I had some leftover cranberry Simple syrup that I mixed with fresh lime and blood orange Spindrift which was delicious. I drink a lot of sparkling water already and like tea but not with meals or when I’m cooking.

CBD gummies will help take the edge off and give that relaxed feeling too.

Idk eliminating alcohol reduces calories (provided we don’t replace it with food or caloric drinks). According to the Reframe app I reduced 1200 calories this week. At the end of the month I should be down a pound. Doesn’t sound like much but I’ll take it.

True. That’s a calorie deficit and a pound without doing anything else is a loss and maybe that can create other decreases if people usually snack while drinking.

Craving my Sunday glass of wine as a treat before the craziness of the work and school week starts, but holding strong. Pouring myself a sparkling water—in a champagne flute
