I’ve heard RGR is staying… but there have also been those announcements lately about MCPS “partnering” with OpenSource Phonics, so I’m not what role that will play. The messaging is that keeping Benchmark for another year gives them time to truly assess curriculums and make the right choice for the ELA curriculum. They don’t want to rush and make another mistake. I personally am like, it’s been clear for yearrrrs Benchmark isn’t what’s best for students, and am disappointed we’re going into a fourth year of it.

Have you heard about RGR?
Are we keeping it?
And perhaps expand to benchmark 2022 schools?
Fingers crossed

Oh don't worry, not killing the messenger. This is totally on central office.

Um, OK. I guess I'll take your word for it.

Ugh. Can't believe we're stuck with it another year. Way to go, MCPS.

It’s Benchmark for another year. MCPS doesn’t want to rush choosing a new curriculum and this will give them another year to decide.

They should never have selected Benchmark. It is so awful that everyone hates it -- teachers, parents, students.

Apparently, they've never selected any good curriculums and always change 1-2 years later then pick another loser, rinse repeat...

Eureka Math (ES) and Illustrative Mathematics (MS/some HS) both seem strong. The problem seems specific to Benchmark.

Yeah after the 2.0 debacle, they righted the ship with math, but made another poor choice with ELA. It’s inexcusable at this point.

Well that’s no big deal. It’s only reading.

And writing - but with AI kids don’t need to write so agree nbd.
