LOL, hope your kid is rocking it out at Northeastern and banging all the Boston peeps they can! Maybe some of the Harvard, MIT, BU, BC, and Tufts will rub off on them and they'll get that "I attended school in Boston" trophy!

Harvard isn't even in Boston.

Only Northeastern and Boston University are in Boston.

Lesser known fact: Stanford is not in Palo Alto (it is in Stanford, CA)

And Clark…

Tulane is a good example of a school whose "lay prestige" is better than its ranking, especially regionally.

Don't let USNWR skew your view too much either. You might start thinking Princeton is actually better than Stanford or Harvard or that Williams is clearly superior to Swarthmore and Amherst

I tend to view schools based on the types o

LOL your id f kids they accept. At our private, I would say Tulane, Northeastern and Miami get the same group of kids, solid middle of the class.

You have a weird view.

Northeastern has acceptance rate below 10% with 1430-1550 SAT
Miami over 30% and 1300-1460 SAT

If you are in search of colleges, you are in a serious trouble.
Go back to a drawing board.

NP-LMFAO...really? I am laughing hysterically as I bang this out. You must have a kid at what Northeastern? Nobody gives a cr@p about that school, it's a joke!

LOL why so mad at the facts
Your kid must be rejected by Northeastern and attending Miami

No see above...

So why so mad

Talking about schools based on sports conference in general is obnoxious. And the funniest thing is that many don't want the Ivy League schools to admit so many athletes. To a lesser extent people do it with the NESCAC too.

Many legitimately think Ivy or bust as if they are aiming for a particular low-level football conference! How many times have we heard about Duke not being an Ivy on this board?

It’s not hard to get in Tulane if you are willing to go ed1 or ed2. At our private, Wake gets the better students.

+1 our private has a handful ho to each every year. Very consistent that better students go to Wake Forest than Tulane. Like 100%. And just as consistent better students go to Vanderbilt than Wake Forest. Emory kind of all over the place—top student in class (that likely got into Ivy) all the way down to “how the hell did they get in” but I think that just points to more holistic review. And all at least two Emory student recently from our private went to graduate school at Harvard. But back to original topic—Tulane is great, great school but not as prestigious as some of the others being mentioned.
