because a bunch were dumped on them by another state who had no authority to do that. Those governors lied to the people and were basically human traffickers for a political stunt.
But weren’t those unlawful immigrants dumped in those other states by a federal govt that isn’t enforcing security at the border because doing so is unpopular with the political class in those states now doing the complaining?
So you think small, under resourced towns in rural Texas should absorb the massive costs of dealing with a huge influx of people who shouldn’t be here, but draw the line when a few hundred show up in NYC?
Seriously- how do you defend that?
I'm not defending anything, but last I checked TX, FL, and NY are part of the US, and the federal government has the authority to deal with illegal immigrants, not a governor who is looking to score political points and looking to run for POTUS in two years.
Also, Desantis had ZERO authority to ship illegal immigrants from TX, a state he has ZERO jurisdiction in. So again, he's basically a human trafficker. We should put him in prison.
Yes, the federal government has the authority.... but when the federal government shirks that authority, the states most heavily impacted need to take action.
And, are you equally as outraged about the mayor of El Paso (D) busing migrants to NYC?
DeSantis should be awarded a medal for what he did. The Democrats are FINALLY talking about the crisis at the border. That is a miracle.
No it’s not up to the states. Sorry not how it works. When Texas leaves can you join them?
The federal government should help any place that has a lot of refugees, but new Central American and South American refugees are not actually visible in New York and don’t seem to have any noticeable effect on quality of life in New York. If anything, New York has done a good job of getting things back under control in the past year.

I just can't take anyone seriously who makes excuses for the absolute disaster that our southern border has become.
It is not "global conflicts." And, while the amnesty granted by Reagan proved to be a huge mistake (Dems didn't keep their side of the deal), it is not what is causing our current crisis. These people coming probably don't even know who Reagan is.
Our current crisis is the result of Biden's campaign rhetoric, his campaign promises, and the actions he took on Day 1 of his presidency sending a loud and clear message that his administration had no intention of enforcing our border laws. Period.
But they know that several past POTUS have provided amnesty, including a few R ones. They know that they can get amnesty. That is the point. They don't care who the POTUS is.
They know what Biden and Harris have said. They know the actions that Biden has taken.
They know that he has essentially welcomed them, encouraged them to enter illegally, and they know there will be no ramifications for doing so. In fact, they know that Biden-Harris will reward them for their efforts.
Don't take my word for it. The migrants themselves have said they are coming now because Biden is president. And, the border agents have said our current crisis is the worst they have ever seen it.
This is a dereliction of duty plain and simple.
Maybe they come because Abbott and DeSantis are misleading them with offers of free transportation to places that will give them assistance and job opportunities.
I'm convinced that the migrant caravan was financed and started by right wing nujobs.

Everyone I saw working today is Hispanic or Middle Eastern. We need more busloads of people who are willing to do the work that Americans cannot do.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Not a problem. I'm sure the border states are getting some federal money to handle migrants. Time to redistribute that money and make sure that any state that gets migrants shipped to it gets a chunk of that pie.
Really? Seems like an unfunded burden on those border towns. Sanctuary cities argued they don’t work with ICE because they are not funded to do so. Seemingly both places are using the same arguements.
I literally don't care. If Red States hate the government so much, then they can give back federal money. Especially if not using it for its intended purpose. You're sending them elsewhere, you lose the money.

Sure there have been border crossings of questionable legality for decades. But volume matters. Today's volume is simply unprecedented and has become unmanageable. Kind of like Walgreen's has always had low levels of shoplifting in SF for decades. But it reached such volumes over the past years that Walgreens shut down dozens of stores there.
