OOS here. $5K, Dietrich. 3.9 uw, test optional, rigorous courses, 4-year varsity sport (time consuming), jobs, leadership in clubs

no, out of state. DC also has rigorous courses and 4 yr varsity sport and job (when I said “typical” ec’s I meant this type - not the national science award winning type)

they do reject people, the admissions rate is below 50% now, but nobody is going to talk about their kid getting rejected unless it's a very selective school (Ivy-tier, UVA, etc.)

My DD applied to Pitt but I do not think she'll do well there. She has a 3.3 uw from a Bethesda public school; low rigor and a 1240 superscored SAT. A lot of community service but no other impressive ECs. I think it's a great school but not for her. I feel bad saying this but hoping for a rejection.

With those stats she'll get rejected or sent to Greensburg or Bradford.

also some with even lower SAT received 10k/yr.

All 5 in 8 AP, above average EC with leaderships

thank you. were these other admittees in dietrich? (or whatever college your dc is in). the only $20k/yr i have heard of is in engineering school.

My observation is that CS awards are lower for the same stats. Which makes sense because CS is more competitive from the applicant side everywhere decent. I have a relatively high stats kid that just completed her application this past week, applying to arts and sciences. I will report back on the speed of admission and whether she receives merit at this point in the process. We are in DC so DC tag in addition to some merit would be very nice to consider. Pitt’s continued increasing popularity is impacting both its acceptance rate and the amount of merit of offers. Quite fascinating to witness the competitive process have an impact over a short period of time actually.
