Courteney Cox was on Seinfeld, playing his girlfriend who posed as his wife in order to get a dry cleaning discount. That was the season before Friends started.

Lisa Kudrow is the only one who has maintained a marriage.

Perry never married.

The remaining have been married and divorced.

David married someone NINETEEN years his junior. I guess he was reliving The One with Elizabeth.

Courteney married, divorced and in a relationship with a guy who mostly lives in Ireland and she in Malibu. Engaged, broke up, back on and introduces him as her husband because she “feels” married.

Aniston keeps marrying cheaters.

Matt LeBlanc married and divorced but does seem truly happy.

Matthew Perry is Keith Morrison’s stepson. I love Dateline and Friends.

One of my faves was when Monica and Rachel switched identities at the ER because Rachel didn’t have insurance. They ended up on a date with doctors, George Clooney and Noah Wylie…still having to pretend to be the other. The show had some awesome guest stars. I bought a Friends t-shirt in Target this summer.

Another great episode is where the girls lost their apt to the guys in a made up game.

I was born in 1972 and definitely was in the targeted demographic group for "Friends." I never thought it was a great show but I enjoyed it plus as many have noted there weren't anywhere near as many entertainment options as now. This is why I watched it:

1. Most of the people I knew watched it and it was something fun and light to talk about.

2. I liked seeing what the female characters were wearing and how their hair was styled. They really embodied 1990's fashion.

3. I thought Matthew Perry was cute.

4. As also has been noted a number of times in this post, it was a fantasy show. I missed college-all of my friends went separate ways post-college and I really missed college life. I wished that I lived with or near my friends, that we all got along in spite of our differences, etc., that my friends were like family, etc. I felt lonely a lot and wanted my life to be like "Friends."

Statistically, it’s actually how most people live their lives, though I’m not sure that’s worthy of a “LOL.”

Why was it so popular? Because it was different and because it was a fun, exciting world in which no one really lives like that at that stage of their life and there wasn’t that much television to watch back then. Parts have aged well and parts have aged very poorly, but we don’t all share the same cultural touchstones like that anymore and that’s a shame.

That and the one when everyone finds out are the best episodes. But the best scene is PIVOT!!!

Frasier was certainly before my time but I randomly caught episodes while at my baby boomer in-laws' over a holiday. They are obsessed with it and seemed to watch it nightly. When we returned home we started watching it. It's surprisingly incredibly funny and witty.
