Grew up going to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge annually. While I can’t get behind the politics, the place is fun. Why be such a snob?
Why is it being a snob to notice that many people are fat? I already posted that we were shocked by the number of obese people we saw in upstate NY. Should we pretend there aren't more there than here? There are way, way more obese people in upstate NY than I've ever seen here.
Not being a snob. It's noticeable. Just saying.
I went to Pigeon Forge once and didn't think it had people walking around who were any fatter than the crowd who goes to Disney World (both crowds seemed porkier than what I see in DC, but not by much.)

Sounds like you have found your people OP. You should be happy that no one in either place will fat shame you.

What other groups of people do you think okay to single out for comment?

And people in DC are fatter than those in NYC or Europe. That's the nature of this country and the Standard American Diet.
I'm originally from CA. When we moved to the DC area, we went to some fairs, like the Ag fair, Renaissance fair. I was shocked at how many obese people there were.
DC itself doesn't have many obese people. In general, cities don't have a lot of obese people. It's the suburbs and rural areas that have a lot of obese people.
But the south does have an outside share of cities with the most obesity, with TN leading the pack:
