What would that verification look like if the other person involved were also a minor? Where would you find the names, the report, whatever?
This happens at least once a year where I work as a mandated reporter, sometimes two or three times -- pregnant preteens. It's awful. You know what Child Protective Services says when I call to update them, e.g., when the pregnant preteen misses a medical visit and there is concern for medical neglect by her caregivers? "Of course, we cannot confirm whether there is an open file on this case, but we can take down the information." And I never hear what happens with the case, either.
Of course we cannot confirm.
You can confirm that an event happened without releasing a name. The doctor went public with it right?
This reminds me of all the stories during the pandemic which also could not be verified. All the crying nurses, etc.

A stage age for black and brown girls to start their periods is NINE!

From commenter wihntr, who knows more about this subject than alleged fact checker Kessler does:Anonymous wrote:I participated in the investigation of and prosecuted hundreds of child maltreatment cases, the vast majority of them sexual assaults. I was also my county's juvenile court prosecutor for two years. The notion that a ten-year-old child became pregnant and in need of an abortion is very credible. The fact that no prosecution for having impregnated the child has yet been made public means nothing. I personally know of many cases where little girls like this have been raped. Once when I was in juvenile court we had a 13-year-old runaway who was pregnant-- with her second child.
First, the girl in this case may be unwilling or unable to disclose the identity of the person who assaulted her (and as far as I am aware sex with a child as young as ten is a sexual assault, a rape, in every state even if no physical force as most people think of it was involved.) She may be afraid to say who raped her. She may be unsure who raped her. She may not know the identity of the person who raped her. She may be developmentally delayed and non-verbal. (People with developmental disabilities are particularly vulnerable to sexual assault.) Investigators may be awaiting the results of the abortion to obtain a DNA sample form the fetus in order to try to identify the person who raped the girl.
Second, if the person who impregnated the girl is himself a juvenile-- which is not at all unlikely-- in most states the prosecution of such an assault would take place in juvenile court, where proceedings are rarely made known to the public. All the fact-checking in the world would not get anywhere in trying to verify the story if it went to juvenile court.
Third, because we are dealing with a child and a medical procedure where that child is the patient, HIPPA prevents many of the people involved from saying anything that could get into the public domain identifying the patient.
Someone who knows more about child sexual assault should have written this "fact-check."
You and Kessler sound like you’re trying to find a loophole for why making women and girls slaves is acceptable and not that bad. It is that bad. For every horror story like this poor raped 10 year old, there will be thousands of individual women whose misery will never be made public. You and every other forced birther or forced birther apologist will bear this blood, death and misery on your hands.
I have a hard time believing this story.

What part of, if the offender is also a minor or was not named by the victim, nothing will be found by anyone, do you not understand??

If a child is raped and goes to the doctor, the DOCTOR is a mandated reporter. It doesn't matter what the family wants. This is child abuse and a doctor who is aware of it is required to report it.
And, the claim would be investigated and prosecuted if true.
