Yes. People would yell "punch-buggie" amongst friends and sock someone in the arm.

My brother and I would yell, "Slug bug!" and punch one another lightly on the arm. Same thing with cars that had a headlight out:"One-eyed Jack!"

I think we stopped doing this by age 12 or so.

What?!? Of course this was a thing.

We did this, and we also pinched each other HARD when we saw a Corvette Stingray (goal was to make it sting 😂)

We still do lol . Family gentle tap. Though eldest daughter used to really enjoy the game more than youngest.

We totally did this and still do. Punch buggy [color]. We also played Padiddle which is when you went under a yellow light and touched the ceiling of the car. We would slow down to get a yellow light, surely pissing off everyone behind us.

Not sure why any of this would be politically incorrect.

We did this growing up (80s, 90s).

I’ve been smacking my kid in the thigh all week as we drive past the PUNCH BUGGY - YELLOW that’s randomly parked in our neighborhood.

Also used to hut the roof of the car when we went through a yellow light.

Punch Bug! Did it with my family and on the school bus. Taught my kids so maybe it'll live on another generation.

We lived near a VW repair place and my brothers and I would tense up waiting to be the first one who spotted the lot full of Beetles. Then we'd slaughter each other.

Hah yes we would yell "[color] punch buggy, no punch backs!" This was in the early 2000s.

We did this, too, in the 1970/80s (when there were many on the road).

Yes, you call out “punch buggy!” and punch your friend / sibling on the arm. You don’t like, assault them and break their nose. It’s a car trip game.

Shouldn't you be streaming Gen Z wimp rock on Spotify instead of posting on here with grownups?

I agree with the pp and I am a grown up!

I am the PP and I’m 50 years old so pretty damn grown up myself. I still hate any “game” that involves punching, hitting, mockery, bra snapping, etc. Really it was always pissy people doing it that then would say “oh, you can’t take a joke” if you said “hey—don’t hit me!” I weighed 90 pounds in in HS so maybe that was part of it, but I really do hate this kind of stuff.

You are insufferable

NP but I cringe every time you think you're cool using that big word you learned, it totally says way more about you than whoever you are directing it towards.

Also class of '93. We yelled, "Punch Buggy Blue!" or whatever color it was and punched the person next to you. Siblings and friends.

Class of '96 reporting in -- we did "Punch Buggy [Color]!" and punched the person next to us. None of this "Slug Bug" nonsense here.

Yes. Slugbug.

Not in my family, but friends did it for sure. My spouse too and we grew up across the country from each other.

I always found it annoying, but never politically incorrect. Why would it be politically incorrect?
