Agree with this. There is plenty of housing but the housing being built is unaffordable.
It's because affordable housing is not profitable in expensive areas, and all the freeloaders who want to pay very little rent want to live in the nicest parts of the city. Let the government invest in improving bad parts of the city and building there instead of expecting builders or homeowners to house those who cannot pay market rates. DC still has plenty of areas where people can live for very cheap, don't tell me it's Aspen or something![]()
In DC, any place you develop will become an expensive area. Trying to pursue affordable housing in DC is like playing whack-a-mole. People thinking that developing Rock Creek Park or any other green space in DC will magically solve housing affordability are completely delusional.
They don't actually think that -- that is what they are trying to sell so they can make money developing a National Park. It's disgusting.

Not OP but I’m in favor. I keep hearing people say there’s a “housing crisis” and yet apparently the crisis isn’t so big that they are willing to keep huge swaths of land off limits and exclusionary zoned for non housing purposes.

You get a roof over your head in the area that you can afford, which may very well be in Prince William or Hagerstown or Lothian. Or Germantown.
To the victor go the spoils, in this case, a condo with a private roof deck steps from 14th St. You're not entitled to that, you earn it. Encourage your children to do better.
