I don't mean that in the way his stans mean it. From them, that question is coming from a place of being resentful of Belly. They think she doesn't have a personality and that Conrad is too good for her.
I don't think Conrad is too good for her, but I don't buy that he loves her that much after how hot and cold he was in S1. I know this sounds callous, but I don't know if I buy the fact that he acted that way just because his mom was dying, which is what his stans claim. It was sort of the quintessential "He's Just Not That Into You" situation, but with an element of grief in the storyline. (Genuinely open to be proven wrong if you guys have any real-life examples.)
I really think the years-long gap between seasons is making people forget the way Conrad treated Belly.
I agree. It seems like he just wants her so he can "win" her from Jeremiah. He treats her horribly and doesn't have much of a personality. Jeremiah is at least fun and open about how he feels. He seems to truly love her.
I totally don’t see it that way. Conrad internalizes things. He has loved belly his whole life, but has poor self worth and impossibly high standards for himself. He thought he’d hurt her with his tendency to withdraw.
Jeremiah was onlt interested in belly as a friend until he saw Conrad make a move on her. Then his inferiority complex kicked in and *he* pursued belly out of jealousy. He was manipulative and immature - he interfered with her relationship with Conrad, cut her out for dating his brother, blamed her for their fallout, cheated on her, and told her to never “—-ing” call him again this past episode.
Belly convinced herself that Jeremiah was her best friend and that was what love was supposed to be. She was so deeply hurt by Conrad’s perceived rejection that she went for low risk Jeremiah, who ended up hurting her in many ways because he is so immature.
Conrad emotionally withdraws to protect those around him (which may hurt them, but noble intentions) and Jeremiah manipulates those around for self preservation.
This is why I said the whole Conrad/Belly situation very much feels like a "He's Just Not That Into You" type of thing. A lot of women delude themselves into thinking a guy won't pursue them because they have other things on their plate or they just don't want to hurt you or some other justification, when that really isn't a thing that happens in real life. I think the idea of Conrad and Belly being soulmates is wish fulfillment for women who have pined over the sullen, withdrawn type who's hot and cold with you.
Of course it is. The whole genre is built on the premise of happy endings with the guys who give you amazing highs and horrible lows. That’s why it’s such an emotional rollercoaster.
My problem with Jeremiah is that he’s not really the sensible alternative. He’s majorly flawed, more so than Conrad.
Yes. Let's face what would have happened if this were reality. Conrad would be screwing someone in San Francisco and would have moved on a long time ago. Belly would be a distant memory.

My thoughts-
why doesn’t belly have more than 2 friends at bachelorette party? Cause she is up fisher boy drama not stop
No hair and make up professional for wedding? Weird
So Jere is took a job in boston instead of going back to college in fall with belly. She gave up Paris to be in college with him. WTF
During all the drama, I wanted to scream at belly to just go to Paris.
How is the ending different from the book?

Not a single thing in the plot makes any sense at all and the characters themselves are wildly inconsistent as a result. The popularity of this series is shocking given how bad it is.
The books were better. I think people keep going waiting for the same magic to manifest onscreen.
