I flew from DCA today (Saturday) and it was relatively empty. No security lines at all, flight left on time - American Airlines.

I was a PP about Hertz as well - they seem to have no idea what their actual car inventory is, anywhere.
Yep. I’ll never use them again. Did National more recently and everything went smoothly and easily and it was actually cheaper too!

Half of the family got Covid during the vacation. Half had recently recovered from Covid before the trip.
Then on our flight home we waited in extensive lines at the airport for baggage check, security and passport control and ran to our flight missing it by 5 minutes. Multiple other people missed it as well due to airport lines. Had to go to a hotel. Did not expect our baggage to leave without us so had hardly anything with us such as no clean clothes.

Let me guess you were leaving out of Amsterdam to return? The lines there are crazy right now apparently.
Yes, it was Amsterdam. Only 2 hours in line the next day since we could skip the baggage check line so we made our flight the second day and miraculously our baggage arrived as well.

Alaska has had the fewest issues of any of the US major airlines since the spring
But is PP flying on Alaska Airlines, or just going to Alaska? I'm headed to Anchorage this month on Delta and am concerned about cancellations.
My DS is flying to Seattle on Alaska and just texted me he has boarded and the flight is on time. Very surprised and relieved because is is an evening flight on a very busy weekend.

We had an easy flight out to LA and picked up our car in no time. Our flight home was just as uneventful. It's not all chaos out there.

PP flying to Alaska. DH bought our tickets from a 3rd party aggregator, probably Expedia. So I’m expecting any and all nightmares to occur. I think our flights are a hybrid of Delta and Alaska Air.

As you should be- Delta has done the worst overall the last few months. Biggest issues are having enough pilots for the A320 and 737- of course the backbone of the mainline domestic fleet.

I blew a tire in PA, fortunately we are safe and an officer was nearby to direct traffic but then went to 4 places before finding tires for $800. Now we are at a random pizza place and I’m about to have a drink called the painkiller lol!!!
