Doesn’t Capital already have a relationship with Stars? Makes sense for Capital to work with BLC to feed from MOCO and Stars to feed from NOVA.

Agree. This is a huge development that provides a clear progression for BLC girls, similar to the BLC->DC Express connection on the boys’ side.

Nope ... Not a CLC Director. Just a former Capital parent who's had a great experience with the club and feels the need to contest your BS.

Prior posts from MDers have suggested top players should leave DMV and go to MD to get 20 percent more playing time. But as other HoCo parents have noted here, the politics of those MD clubs are enormous. Not saying Capital doesn’t have its own politics. But even for the most exceptionally talented DMV kids entering an unknown MD club, to think they will get a fair shake as a top starter is a stretch. So the question for that elite DMV player becomes: why risk joining a club you don’t know, accept a low probability of more field time, which would result in *less* time on the field than if they went to Capital? Given the success of the 23s, the risk calculus is now shouldered by the MD clubs. MD players who don't see the field will wonder if they're better off making the drive to Capital to get more playing time and recruiting exposure.

By their own admission, MD club parents were stunned at the success of the Cap 23s. So it’s very easy to understand why they’re being so active in disparaging Capital on this forum. The club has established itself as a recruiting threat, so they’re using the winning-is-everything / we-are-we / we're-the-best-at-developing-players arguments to try and hold on. The recruits tell the story of the strength of each club. Capital is a threat to the MD clubs - it's the only way to explain why MD fandads are so tilted here.

Don’t forget MS players are young kids. Any temptation of more field time isn’t going to lure them (even the top ones) to leave their teammates when Capital is in their backyard and sending kids to great schools.

Then there’s the dynamic of trying to break into a new clique of established players. It’s never easy. If your kid has ever done this you know what I’m talking about. If you’re a DMV player trying to break into a MD club, consider that challenge (regardless of how good you are). The chemistry of those players has been established. MD parents have been making moves / currying favor with those club directors and coaches through the MD club pipeline years before MS to lock in those starting positions. DMV players who don’t grow up in the MD club scene are naturally viewed as outsiders. We know an extremely talented older player who would have been on a Capital path but chose to go to an MD club. She made an A team, but it was not a good experience for her for this reason.
