Is there any chance Eddie is still alive somewhere? I really want that character to keep going! Also, how did El resuscitate Max, exactly? I was pretty into this season but thought the 48 hour time jump at the end was kind of lazy.

It’s the scene where he looks away in the van and sobs after telling Mike the point behind his drawing. I thought it was very moving and I hope they handle it well in the next season. Huh, I guess I'm the only one who thought that the writers were trying to lead us to believe this he was hiding that he was gay, when in fact, he had been hiding that Vecna/One/Henry is inside him and he's scared about what could happen to him. I also assumed those longing looks were because he knew this, didn't want to tell, and was scared for his friends. In other words, he's not a closet homosexual, he's a closet upside down monster.

Where did I say it was a bad agenda. It's a fine agenda. But it's an agenda. It's obvious to everyone, and although many of us support the agenda, we don't always feel that the storytelling is well-served by the agenda. I L-O-V-E Robin's character, but no way a girl would come out like that to a guy like Steve in 1985. It was so (awfully) different back then. So the Robin-Steve relationship sticks out as anachronistic and it takes you out of the moment. Even though, yeah, I wish it was like that for my gay friends in the 80s. Do you understand what I'm getting at?

So, let me be sure that I understand. In a story about a girl raised in a lab to have telekinetic powers that open a portal to another dimension in which monsters exist and plan to invade our world and kill everyone, the story telling is not "well- served" by a depiction of a gay girl telling a guy that she is gay because that would have been "unrealistic" in the 80's.

And I had a large group of friends in the 80s, two of whom were gay (well, bi and gay, to be exact). This was in Kentucky. It was never a big deal except when Laura kissed Mark's girlfriend Katie, and there was some confusion about whether that counted as Katie cheating.

It is a fantastical story, but what makes it a good show and really grounds it is the relationships between the characters, which are not fantastical. And outside of the fantastical stuff, they try to make it feel and look like the 80s. So, yeah, that part felt out of place. Not her being gay (and let's even go with the PPs suggestion that the drugs would explain her openness in that moment) but that Steve is so zen about it. I find Will's story more realistic. I was the same age as Nancy in these years and NO ONE in my high school was open about being gay. Even the rumor of it was social suicide back then. You were fortunate to be among understanding people if that was the case where you were.

But if YOU think that in order to be supportive of gay rights and all my gay friends and relatives, I must NEVER be critical of any storytelling with any gay characters EVER, well, then, I should just call all of them right now and tell them who - I -really - am. Sob.

They were high on drugs at the time when she came out, though.

Anyway, I agree that mike sucks as a character. Will’s whole speech to him about being “the heart” of the group felt untrue to me. Mike hasn’t been the heart since season 1 or 2 (he did fight to save Will) but not any longer. I hope the writing of his character gets better. Either way, I enjoyed this season and look forward to/am terrified to see how it all ends in season 5.
