I'd be sh#tting bricks if I was a TSLA shareholder. His customer base is not MAGA and he has no real product that would appeal to the MAGA base.
We are. And to be fair, Elon has always been a Republican, and I and others did not care. He lied in that tweet when he said he was a Democrat voter. He has now just become full MAGA, and that is not working well for me as a shareholder. I am trying to find my exit plan before he incurs more damage to the stock
What is his brand strategy with this maga stuff? It alienates huge swaths of the market. Why is he doing that to tesla?
I'm not going to comment on the impact on TSLA, because I don't really understand that aspect.
But with respect to his personal brand, which he obviously does a lot to cultivate, it makes perfect sense. Trump demonstrated that divisiveness works as long as the people you appeal to absolutely love you. Musk basically has a personal cult. There are the extreme fanbois to whom he can do no wrong. Then there is another group, and I have friends in this category, that are so blinded by the things he's done that they like (e.g. reinvigorate the EV market) that they will justify every horrible thing that he says/does.
