Also, my kid's 5th grade class had an outbreak (I think about 10 cases among the 4 classes) right before spring break.

I think a lot of people who were very careful about distancing and mask wearing through omicron are now "done" and getting this latest variant.

My family of 4 has still only had one of us with a positive case (omicron) and none of the rest of us got it.

Once I caught Omicron and it was nothing, I regret every single post-vaccine precaution that I took (and I was as cautious as my work would allow).

I can understand how you would feel that way. I can also understand how someone who had a different/worse outcome than you might have opposite regrets.

Like blood clots?

For a relative in his 70’s it was getting worse and he was exhausted. Got the antibodies day two and he said it was like it ducked all the intensity out of the virus. Felt almost immediately better.

Any info on initial symptoms? I have felt like I had sinus infection over weekend and hot today but no fever. Home test negative.

I’m a PP. For me it was an itchy throat. That’s it.

For my dh and dc1, it started with chills. Dc2 started with a sore throat. They had fevers within 12-24 hours from first symptoms.

Do you know how high the fevers were? I tend to run cool like 97.4 so I am hot but I'm only at 98.8.

Dh was around 100.8, dc1 was 101.5-102.2 and dc2 was 100.5-101.5. Their fevers broke a couple of times and came back and broke again. After 48 hours, they had normal temps. They were all extremely tired during the fever stage and couldn't get out of bed/off the couch. This is exactly one week since dh's first symptom and I woke up with a sore throat. Home tests are negative.

FWIW, I know two people who tested positive this weekend. Symptoms are fever, body aches & chills— no coughing or runny noses as of yet. Both people are young guys (mid 30s) and said they feel like total crap— they don’t remember when they last felt this bad. It didn’t seem like a “cold” for either of them.

Fairfax county April 1, 7 day average: 104.

Yesterday it was 127.

People test at home. Not all positive tests get reported.

I think lots of people won’t test or will take a test at home. From reaching out/talking to other people, it seems like there is an uptick. The disappointing/scary thing is that some of these people who are testing positive now, had Omicron in January or Delta in the fall. I was hoping that at least when it got me (I’m tripled vac btw), I would be immune for a while.

Do you mind sharing what your next steps are? Did you just check into a hotel? Did you go ahead and arrange a new flight home? Did the airlines work with you or did you lose the money for your return flight?

-self isolation
-if one tests positive, you must have a letter of recovery with a positive test result no earlier than 11 days from flight. OR you can re-test and see if you test negative.
-I’ve rescheduled my flight and yes it did cost money.

+1. I can’t believe I had to stay home with my completely asymptomatic kids for 10 days because of ridiculous quarantine requirements. We need to transition to treating this as any other illness. There are vaccines and treatments now.
