It’s just terrible to mock people. It’s an unfortunate trend on dcum which is presumably a defensive tactic to preserve “dirty little [real estate] secrets”. People who correctly point out planes in the Palisades and toxic dumps in the Spring Valley are called crazy etc. These are real problems and gaslighting people isn’t making them go away. I though OP was very nice and correct to want a worry-free life for her family at least in the things she/he can control as they’ve not bought yet.

It was total (and sobering news to me), and have been in DC for decades. I rarely go to the suburbs though but wouldn’t have known. I imagined it being much farther out. I think this is very helpful to know and glad it’s been taken seriously.

Unruly roving gangs of teen agers was rampant when I moved out of Montgomery Village. Mostly they did just petty crimes, but they were a pain in the a##. That was 12 years ago.
