He has lived here for eons. He knows we cannot handle snowstorms especially while it is still actively heavily snowing
I’m really surprised he left at 1pm in the middle of a snowstorm of a hellish drive. He should know better.

Traffic doesn’t grind to a halt, roads get plowed, and something like this would be unheard of. The only thing that failed here is idiotic American drivers and their pathetically funded infrastructure system.
But hey, you pay almost nothing in taxes for the privilege of such failures. Enjoy being a laughingstock to the rest of the world. ‘Murcia! Wooo-hooo hee haw!
Indeed! And people continue to fight Biden on the need for infrastructure improvements.

C'mon, it was an unusually heavy snowfall for couple of hours, with relatively mild, a few degrees below freezing temperatures. The sh*show aftermath really shouldn't be.

Especially when there is Amtrak between Richmond and Union Station.
You think Amtrak wasn’t affected by this? Cute.

Wouldn't have impacted Richmond to Union Station, but still.
It sure did impact RIC to DC. I had to take in two friends who had gotten stuck on a North East Regional that left Richmond at 8am Monday and didn’t make it to Union Station until 6am Tuesday. The crew abandoned the train at Quantico but none of the passengers could get off because it was a military base. When they got in at Union Station Tuesday morning the rest of the route was cancelled and everyone off loaded. It wasn’t clear to my friends if the problem was snow or trees but the ran out of food and water in the dining car, toilet paper in the bathrooms and very little info was given out. My friends are trying to get to CT and we are hoping they can get a train out of here this afternoon.
+1 My nephew is finally on a train to Savannah after days of delays and cancellations and Amtrak is short-staffed with no information.

I hope this possible gives it some attention and maybe they can do something for the better? Although I am not sure what would alleviate the traffic that's always there.

No kidding. As someone on Twitter said, the only reason this was not a mass casualty event is because they were driving gas powered vehicles.
I dunno— EVs usually do very well conserving battery in stop and go, and often have heated seats. I’ve never seen an analysis of how long they could keep a car comfortable in below freezing temps but I wouldn’t assume they are dramatically worse than a gas vehicle.
