He doesn’t. He’s been wrong on so many prior statements.
Omicron didn’t actually originate in South Africa, it was just identified there as a new variant on November 11. Long covid can take less than a month to develop, with symptoms showing between 5 to 15 days after one develops covid.
It's still not even agreed upon in the medical community that "long Covid" exists. It's a good fallback argument for lockdown forever folks, but it's much more likely that "long Covid" is the result of being shut in for two years eating like garbage and feeling sorry for yourself. "Long Covid" is the new "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome". It's called depression. Get outside and go for a walk in the sun.
I have friends with long COVID over 1 year. My neighbor, a pulmonary specialist, said one quarter of his COVID patients have long haul COVID.
I am not aware of any controversy over whether it exists but more around how long it will last. Research links the mechanics of it as being similar to chronic fatigue syndrome that is triggered by a virus and send immune system into a self destruct mode for many years. Hopefully, Long haul COVID will Not last as long as CFS. But we don’t know yet because not enough time has passed.

Currently, testing has required an OPT-IN form for parents. I’m not discounting our concerns in the least, but there is a whole different world in our nearby neighborhood schools where many of our friends live.

Schools need to stay closed this week DMV is a Covid hotspot, snow tomorrow, families coming back from travels and reunions, teachers who may have it, kids indoors. They say this will peak Jan 9. Just keep the schools closed and the hospitals out of meltdown.
Yeah, two weeks to slow the spread. Three years later…

2 years later, but I feel 'ya
Actually Covid was in the United States well before spring it was here in November and December of ‘19 prior to the outbreak in the spring of 20.
Agreed.

Can we refocus? Have any schools provided updates since testing beyond SSSAS? We are still waiting to hear.

WES had become on joke on covid issues. Requiring kids to wear N95s at all times outside and while they are playing basketball. Worse than GDS. Time for new leadership.
There is a vocal group of parents, primarily from early childhood, who will only be satisfied when all the kids are wearing Hazmat suits. They have driven the entire response, out of all proportion to the hazard. Other parents have to this point remained silent, I guess out of a sense of decorum. That started to change last night on the Zoom call. I agree leadership needs to start leading here--but they will only do that if sane parents give HOS and others support that we want to move on.

Public school parent/ teacher alert.
Because no private school parents ever post here wanting to get the gossip about other private schools?
Are you new here?
Notice how they didn’t deny it. Good spotting.
Wtf? I did the post asking about private school announcements and I am absolutely 100 percent a private school parent
