Mayor Bowser takes your suggestion seriously and will form a commission to bring people around the table to discuss and determine whether or how we can "either do something right or don't do it at all". Results are expected to be published in 2035 and will then be considered for implementation.

Seriously. Two “non-instructional” (how tf is that even a thing) days for a 15 minute test that is only accurate for a brief window of time. These choices just don’t make sense to me.
The problem is how do you prove that a student took a test and was negative? I don’t see how this is possible.

They are making teachers come in on 1/3 and 1/4 to pass out the tests. They can’t make teachers come in over the break. This isn’t some sort of extra days off for teachers and staff. They will be in the buildings handing out tests.
Why why why? They already have testing sites rolled out. Are those not good enough?

No the testing sites are not good enough. We have run out of tests.
Also testing on the 3rd and 4th gives more time for this to die off.
And teachers have contracts and are entitled to leave. They aren’t your servants. They shouldn’t have to come in on Sunday to help you out.

I feel like -- because DCPS already has opt-out testing -- that they could just tell parents that they need to opt out of a "test-to-return" protocol. Then everyone just gets tested as the come in the door Jan. 5. Unless there's some way to set up a method of collecting negative results (I doubt there is -- unless it's just a self-report).

Tests should definitely be required but they don’t have staff to distribute on the 3rd.
