That’s not science.
What motive matters? He walked into a school and shot 11 victims - killing 3.
So you don’t care about what prompted him to do that? There HAS to be a reason. I’d like to know what it is. Why wouldn’t you?
Do I care what a misanthrope used for justification for committing this vile act? No. I think he deserves the electric chair.
The reason somebody is disgruntled is separate from the fact that he had access to a gun to kill others. If he did not have a gun, no one would be dead. The issue is the lack of gun control in our country and the fact that people bow down to the second amendment as if it itself cannot be amended. Going to become the God of the GOP who seem to worship the NRA and guns.

Nothing will change until white people get their act together when it comes to guns. Too many white people feel marginalized and see gun ownership as a way to be powerful in their small, insignificant lives.
As a white man, this is my responsibility to fix this. Because people of color will NEVER convince sick white people to give up their guns or meaningfully restrict access.
+100
Which is why, in the end, it will have to be done by force. Brutal, crushing, unforgiving, violent, bloody, lethal FORCE. We are going to have to kill every last gun nutter out there if we are to survive.
Extremely racist. All races have gun violence.
White man here:
Pretty much every case of psycho school mass shooters are white. Why?
This is a cultural problem with white America, full stop, no excuses.
I think there are actually a good number of non-white school shooters; my understanding is that demographically the shooter population roughly reflects US demographics in general. There are more detailed stats at various gun control websites. There is a grotesque sickness in the difference in how school shootings with Black children as victims are portrayed versus white teens, however.
What the shooters are, however, is overwhelmingly male. School shooting are a deeply male problem.
You’re mistaken about the demographics. School shooters are overwhelmingly more white than the general population.

Sigh. How do you know this family, this kid, and this father who BOUGHT the gun was conservative?
Re-posting because its really obvious that Oakland County, Michigan is actually one of the only reliably blue counties. Went for HRC in 2016 and Biden in 2020.
Gun purchases are not just a conservative thing. I know plenty of liberals with weapons. Bad parenting bought this gun for this kid. Bad parenting allowed him to throw molotov cocktails in his backyard. Bad parenting let him walk into a school and shoot three bright students dead.
Who cares whether the shooter and family are conservative?! No one is saying that only liberals can be trusted with guns. A lot of us wish that no private citizens had guns--at the very least that it should be MUCH, MUCH harder to get them. The point is that that the conservatives block all common sense gun control measures even in the face of unspeakable tragedies like Sandy Hook.

Only 3 dead kids is a success?
Better than Parkland where the SRO hid outside.
+1. You’d need a standing army stationed outside of each and every school to prevent these needless deaths, or you could just raise the consequences so adults lock up their damn guns. Obviously we are going to spend millions to station the armies because God forbid white men have to exercise some responsibility in connection with their freedumbs.

I agree too.![]()
Democrats have done nothing either in terms of school safety.. oh wait, they took away the SRO's in high schools.
An SRO stopped the shooter, you dummy.
You Dummy, they removed the SRO's in MCPS. So, based off your post all the more reason WHY we should have them.

DP. Why does it matter? There is no justifiable reason to kill off your classmates.
The issue is that he COULD and he DID. So the "what" and "how" are very important.
I agree with you about that.
But you are willfully dismissing any interest in motive. And motive is important. Motive is what *makes* people do something, not simply possessing the means.
Did you drive a car this morning? Why didn’t you run over a bunch of kids at a bus stop? You had the means to do so. Why didn’t you? Did you use a knife in the kitchen last night? Why didn’t you stab your spouse with it? You had the means to do so. Do you keep a gun in your home? Why didn’t you go on a shooting spree last weekend? You had the means to do so. Do you have a gas can for your lawn mower? Why didn’t you pour it on your neighbor’s house and set it on fire? You had the means to do so.
So yes, I’d very much like to hear why this student chose to make use of the means available to him. The fact that it was available to him at all is a separate issue.

Is it even legal for a parent to buy a 15 year old a gun?
I feel like I’m living in an alternate universe.
