OP never had a choice here, because after the guy bailed he was never going to ask her on another date. Look at his actions as well as the actual words of his texts. The guy got a better offer, but didn’t want to appear to be a d*ck so he made an excuse and offered to pay for the tickets (right, like she’s really going to ask for that). He never once mentioned her or seeing her. Then he unmatched quickly, making it seem like it’s because she’s difficult, when in fact it’s because he’s a coward.

I think it’s also a good warning not to get so invested in someone after a few dates.

Yep. And hopefully this helps you pick up on these types of antics sooner. Guys like this show their colors VERY early and it’s up to us to recognize (and react) to those flags.
