One quality friend is all you need.

I was / still am an introvert and growing up I only ever had 1 or 2 best friends at a time. All other friends were kinda just like ‘acquaintances’ that I wouldn’t really have as much fun with or couldn’t be myself with. I am 34 now and can count on one hand my absolute best friends and I wouldn’t have it any other way! They know me so well and we are always so honest with one another and are life-long friends. Acquaintances will come and go throughout our lifetime, but those hardcore best friends are so rare and end up being life long friends!

I was like this. Really only had one real friend up through high school even though I had plenty of people I socialized with in school and at sports. I think some people just want one quality relationship instead of many of less quality?? I don’t know exactly why I am this way, but it hasn’t hindered me at all and I wouldn’t worry if my children were the same.

Similar to a PP, my younger DD has one BFF she's very close with, a boy she's known since they were 3 who was also our neighbor. They hung out, had playdates and sleepovers all the time until just now. They're both 11 and in middle school, and due to unfortunate circumstances, he lives with us now and they share a room. She's been a very good friend to him during this hard time.
