This is is easy and super safe!
He can drive an hour or two and stop for coffee, then drive some more and take a long break for lunch. Then drive another few hours to the hotel with another coffee break if needed. He can drive in daylight the whole way AND he has a passenger to chat with so he’s alert.
Come on. What’s really going on? This is safe to the point of absurdity.

Did I read he doesn’t have a driver’s license. For that reason only I would say no, unless you are not from the US. Need insurance to cover for accidents for your car and others, if he is at fault. Six hour drive not the issue.

Come on, OP. This is not a difficult task. He can absolutely drive 6 hours in one day. I drove down to Florida with my daughter last fall. Broke it up into two parts. The second day was easily 7 hours. I was fine.
When I opened this thread, I thought you were going to say that he was driving 6 hours to somewhere and 6 hours back in the same day!

I would do it, and I need frequent breaks otherwise I fall asleep at the wheel. My spouse knows this about me, and would be perfectly fine with it, but he would call regularly to check on me.
What are you worried about, exactly? Covid?

I drive 7-8 to Boston on Saturday to watch my son play a sport and drive back the next day.
Sometimes I stay an extra day in between if I’m moving him in or out.
6 hours is easy
