I moved to the WS Cardinal Forest neighborhood in 2011. I purchased my home, 6 bedrooms built in 1967, for $600,000 in 2015. Nice older homes in WS Cardinal Forest are now bumping 1 million. The nice 3-4 bedroom townhomes along Carrleigh Parkway and Forrester sell for $550-600. Many homes never see the market.

The house seems nice but lots are very small.

It is a really wholesome suburb. WS High school is very good and has a community feel. Racially diverse but all groups do well.

They are but Kingstowne is fine too. Especially at the elementary level (Hayfield and Island Creek). Hayfield secondary is ok but WSHS has a better academic reputation overall.

Part of kingstowne goes to Lane, which is fine too.

Yes, if your kids are going to public school. If they are going to private, Alexandria has more options.

Pp here who recently moved to WS. Truth be told I grew up here and although I loved it I also loved the more walkable area we were in before. My husband on the other hand grew up in DC proper and is obsessed with WS now. The cul de sac. The pool without a 5 year waiting list. The ease at getting to target. The neighbors walking their dogs and stopping to chat every 10 mins. He loves it. It really is an ideal place to raise a family. And as he told me / if we are paying for a babysitter anyway. It’s no problem to Uber an extra 20 mins to the “good” restaurants in DC, old town or Arlington (That being said. We've been going to Clifton and it’s lovely )

Family oriented, slug/commuter lots, close to metro, neighborhood pools and tennis, nature center, it's great.

We just moved to WS. We actually looked at that community and love the builder but wanted to move sooner. I was sad moving from Arlington but we really love our neighborhood and schools. And as much as I hate to say it, the parkway is very quick and easy to get to places.
