Yeah, Lobbyists. Now that’s something I’d be ashamed about.

I grew up in a foreign service family and attended international schools and college in the UK. I teach math and physics at one of the supplemental schools. My neighbors were surprised that I didn’t teach at a public school but they didn’t offer courses I wanted to teach. They thought I was a snob until the pandemic when many asked me to help with their children’s math and science classes.

The enrollment has also increased dramatically at our center, so the neighbors now understand the importance of what I do

I work on an issue that’s incredibly divisive. I never get into specifics here because it’s very niche and it wouldn’t be difficult to track down my org. In real life when I tell people what I do, it’s fun to watch their reactions. You can immediately tell which side of the fence they fall on.

Thank you for what you do. I work in a school (as a specialist, not a classroom teacher) and I grew up in a diverse area with diverse friends, so I thought I knew what I needed to to deal with my students' wide variety of backgrounds. Of course I was wrong, and I would catch myself not knowing how to respond, or responding from my own perspective. I find these trainigs valuable when choosing materials, and taking to families, and working with coworkers, and knowing how and when to speak up.

You don’t work, so no need to respond.

Yes DCUM, there’s lots of people with degrees making less than 100k/year, even in this area.

I respect the H out of nurses.

My friends H is a sleazy lobbyist and he doesn’t hide the fact he literally pays off politicians to pass laws in his favor.

As someone from another country, Ill never understand how this is even allowed.

I am a full-time Nanny.

Which according to many, is not even a “real” job by any means.
If it isn’t real work > then why do I come home every day exhausted?? 🤔

I'm a government historian, so a) I'm a lazy drain on taxpayer resources and b) everyone thinks they know my job better anyway because they read this book/watched this documentary/took a class in college one time.

But guess what? I DID study critical race theory, I DO think it's an accurate framework for looking at some aspects of US history, and even though I can't use the words in this political environment, it absolutely shapes how I do my job.
