Wow...I have never thought of having two. I have never seen a house with 2. I think it might make me lazy...2 full of clean dishes and no one has unloaded.and there are still dirty dishes on the counter.

Posted earlier and to the environmental concerns we never use paper/plastic since no matter size of party I have more than enough plates and glasses (neighbors and we ‘share’ 4 dozen cheap dw safe glasses specifically for parties.) Since kitchen always clean - we also cook, rarely eat out. We’re not perfect but once you have A dishwasher- two isn’t your environmental downfall.

You must not be part of the tiny home movement.

If you have tons of space I see no reason not to.

If you’re making a party house put one in the prep kitchen for sure.

In my dream giant house there would be one in the basement party room which would also have a second laundry, a big fridge, possibly a stove and big stainless steel tables.

Why stop there? Why not two houses?

And 2 husband's

Our second kitchen is next to the game room in the basement. We use it not just for snacks/drinks for movie night but also as a prep/scullery kitchen when doing big meals.

We have this too. Ours is in the basement level of our rowhouse, that could be set up as a separate 1br apt. Our tv room is down there and we actually often cook whole meals in the downstairs kitchen.

Also a family of five. I love having two dishwashers. We cook a lot and, even with two, there are still sometimes dishes on the counter. One was broken for a while and we got by, but definitely do it if you have space. We also have a small undercounter refrigerator and a separate undercounter ice maker. I would recommend both of those as well.

Actually I think I run the dishwasher less when I have two. (Have run an experiment on this when one of the two was broken for a while.) With two dishwashers, you only run it when it is absolutely, completely full. The other dishes can wait out of sight in the second dishwasher, then when that is ready, run that one.

Were the two dishwashers stacked or apart? We have a small kitchen and would love it if we can replace current one with the two in the same spot.

Two in the same spot. They were the size of one normal-sized dishwasher.

Most people I know who did that kept kosher. If you just need it because you have a lot of dishes, I like the two drawer idea.

Bless your heart. Let me see if I can help you understand - we do not have space for a 2nd dishwasher unless we want to give up the cabinet where our pots/pans are stored. For many people, space is a limitation. How nice for you that you don't have to worry about that.

So one is like an extra cupboard?

That is why I would not like it.
I like things to be in their own place

I used to live in a tropical place where anything left out would immediately attract an army of ants, flies, insects. So that is just not for me.
My guess is that you only need one if you are fussy about being kosher
Otherwise it is just a waste of space. Rather put in a wine cooler or something
