A book writer is different from a TV/movie script writer. What works in one medium doesn't always work in the other and he doesn't get that. I heard he gets final say on scripts.

8 episodes of mainly the lead character driving around from one place to another to uncover a tiny snippet of information, it could have been done in 4 episodes.
Then finding out what the whole story was about in the last 2 episodes, so in essence it's very fluffed out with pointless crap.

Since the characters exist mostly as vehicles for those plot twists, it’s hard for actors in service to the narratives to give convincing performances. I do like that they are adapting different books to various foreign locations with international casts.
Right.
I was astonished when one of my favorite mystery editors flagged him as a favorite author.
