This is such a classic thread. Those awful teenagers...crossing against the lights and grabbing food from the hot bar! Wilson should probably be shut down permanently for the safety of all Tenleytown residents and Whole Foods fingerling potatoes

Stealing food by sticking your hands in the hot bar is not “teenagers being teenagers.”

Since when is theft okay?! Just because you don’t like the victim doesn’t make it legal or civil.

So which one was it, kids piling food on their plates and eating or eating directly with their fingers?

It was poor cocktail party /buffet behavior - piling up plates, noshing, maybe a little picking and double dipping

Stealing food is conventional urban behavior, is it?

That hot bar thing is disgusting. WF needs to put a stop to that.

Normally the off duty police office would talks to the SRO, but I believe that program is somewhat in disarray? Someone at the school needs to be a contact for this.

This isn’t just a kid thing, I’ve seen many a patron taste along the way. Elderly women, young men. I never touch the hot bars.

I am the first people who said that “that hot bar thing” is disgusting. I never touch it either for fear of somebody behaving like this, but I have never actually seen somebody do it.

I can’t believe it still exists.

I meant kids eating directly from the hot bar in unsanitary ways.

I paid for my after school snacks, or a friend treated or I/we went without. You know, the not stealing thing.

Exactly. I’m interested to know how the OP is certain that these are all Wilson students and why PP believes law enforcement should be involved for them but not for anyone else.

Cue the predictable how do you know they are Wilson students comment.

OK, I'll grant you it's both illegal and kind of gross. But what does it matter to you? Were you planning to eat at the hot bar? If not, who cares?

I mean … I didn’t stick my hands in a hot bar and steal food…

I have seen people (regardless of age) eating from the hot bar, olive bar and the bulk food items with their hands often. If you'd like, you can monitor WF around the clock to watch the free-for-all at any of their locations. It just so happens that the kids are there at one specific time, there are a lot of them, and they learn by example.
