DD always took the train to college. In the NE it makes a lot of sense. She shipped her stuff. We never drove.

My parents never booked my train tickets. I did it myself. Bizarre.

PP obviously bought her kid a Hummer to travel in.

My DS took the train from Williamsburg to DC often. The trains do fill up early. To those of you who require a plane ticket at Thanksgiving, don’t wait too long.

How about use common sense and pass the reminder along to your kid if they are the ones booking the reservation? This is a useful reminder regardless of who is booking.

Nope, PP is a newbie mistake. Kids need to get class syllabi to know for sure.

The whole year’s academic calendar is on the school’s website (so you can see the dates of breaks)

The definition of narcissism is thinking because your parents did something and you turned out “so perfect” everyone should do what your parents did so everyone can have kids as “perfect” as you.

You sound insufferable so maybe I’ll do the opposite… can you provide a list of other things your parents did?

Really appreciate the train reminder. We haven't always paid the extra $$ from DC to Philly, but it tends to be worth it for Thanksgiving and it is 100% sensible to book months ahead.

But thanks also for the very timely graduation booking reminder! Got to get on that one! (Still reminder acquaintances who didn't know about booking ahead for their first kid graduating from Yale until just four/five months out, and the hotel room was roughly $500 a night minimum 3 nights? Maybe more? Crazy town.)
