Maybe OP’s DD is at a private school that doesn’t cut anyone but only decides who is on V or JV, or is at one of those many weak MD public HS.


Our private high school had 3 rounds of cuts. Not a single Freshmen or Sophomore was put on Varsity. There were about 150 kids for 44 spots. Most kids are high level club/ecnl, etc.


What school is this? ECNL playing HS School soccer? What do they just show up for games?

About the D 1 soccer question…athletes seemed “owned” by the school. On planes to travel to other schools for maybe 40 people to watch the game (and some of the spectators parents of the kids.)

My eyes were opened.

If someone loves it, cool. But I’d personally rather spend time ON campus and get to know new people and have fun.

ACL tears and concussions.

Traveling extensively and missing football games and college fun.

Having a hard time juggling academics.

Yep. And if they are all AP/honors it makes sense than trying to juggle a full Club schedule along with the HS schedule (Hs is 4-5 days per week Sept-early Nov). It’s easy to guest play or find teams that need a player just for spring season because that’s when most HS play.

Very few get full rides. But that is not the point, the point is to continue doing something you love while getting an education, creating memories along the way.
Most college sports lead nowhere. Life ends for everyone. The point is to love something.
