It’s all about where they can find a site. They can build a new high school in Herndon and relieve overcrowding at schools like Chantilly and Centreville. It just will require more boundaries to change to make that happen. And the opposition will be fierce. We’ve already seen Great Falls push Elaine Tholen around like a puppet on a string.

Hutchinson site would be a traffic nightmare. That area is already a traffic nightmare and it would not really serve the areas where it is most needed. Listen to the traffic reports in the morning about Highway 28 and Centreville Rd reports.
On the other hand, it will be interesting to see the enrollments of the high schools this year. When do we get those?
Hutchison is basically at Centreville Road and the Toll Road. Not near 28.

I have heard that this mythical western school would be on the Hutchison ES campus. If true, then it’s a matter of building costs.
I thought there was land by Rachel Carson MS for a new school?
Well, maybe there are options. RC is probably a more palatable area for some people. Either way it seems (unofficially?) slated for somewhere near Centreville road.
I defintely prefer the Carson site and do not want to cross the toll road. The acqusition cost is only $13.5 million and I wonder how they are going to use that.
You do realize that wherever it lands up in that area will pull the same student population.
