There’s a huge Afghani population that already lives & thrives in Nova. They are more likely to thrive here where they have a long standing community that speaks their languages and can help them navigate US bureaucracy, find jobs, learn English, etc. If you plop them in the middle of rural Nebraska, they will have a very difficult time adapting and assimilating.

Wow. I feel so sad for these families that they've lost their homes, but would welcome their children in our schools. We live in a very diverse area, and I love that my children are exposed to families from all over the world.

They're all supposed to be coming through Dulles as far as I've heard. From there they go to other locations.

First, the situation is terrible.
Second, I heard from a supposedly reputable source that most of the people getting out were american citizens or family units with at least one person who already had american citizenship. Then supposedly it was supposed to move to getting out people very far in the refugee process already. Do we know who is actually arriving at dulles (e.g. which catagory of people?)

I've never said something like this before, but I don't care if they crowd schools here. It's 100% our fault they are in this mess, and I feel very badly for the ones who cannot escape. Today, the Taliban said no more Afghan citizens will be allowed to go to the airport or leave. And reports I have seen about what might happen to our allies on lists there are frightful.
