Oh yeah, sure. But have MCPS or FCPS mention anything regarding VS and the pitchforks come out. "You don't want our kids in-person!"
I say just wait until the cases get so bad, as they already are trending towards, and let the Gov shut it down.

Probabilities for school closures are going up by the day, but politicians will never, ever, give the order to close schools, because it's suicidal. What will happen is that schools will close piecemeal when they have too many students out and not enough teachers. Then the Governor will be able to say that *he kept schools open*.
But they’ll open back up. The era of perma DL-for-all is over.
Correct. It's all about optics. Schools will be Delta petri dishes, because no one wants to go into quarantine, so no one will test unless their symptoms are so dire they need hospitalization, so kids will all be sick with "something other than Delta", and then a lot of adults (vaccinated or unvaccinated) will be hospitalized with Covid, and some will die.
But schools were kept open, so please vote for me.
A political platform never sounded so good. It's got my vote for sure.

Well 2 weeks to flatten the curve did turn into 18 months of school disruption.

Yes, the optics of 'education is good. kids belong in school'
The fear-mongering has lost its power; parents know. they know its safe for kids. they know virtual was a disaster. and now, the decision makers know that the parents know. there will be no virtual

We got a couple extra days off before the holidays when rates were really high and a week of "virtual" in January, but for the most part if administrators commit to in-person they are going to stick with it. For individual schools, it's a little different because we did have schools close for a few days to a week when they ran out of unquarantined teachers.
This was our experience in a maryland catholic school. We were out around the holidays because our cases in the area were spiking, but then back after New Year. I will take an extra long winter break compared to being virtual the entire year.

Sure. People will die, but nobody cares as long as it's not them and the kids are in school.

Carroll County doesn't have virtual learning and it's doubtful there's any plan for it.
