It's simple. They all think he's great and everything he does and says is great. Incumbents included.
Sure, maybe Michelle Reif meekly questioned him once or twice over the last 18 months but she fundamentally agrees with everything he's doing. She voted to renew his contract six months early after all. They all did.
Some tough questions about his (early) contract renewal and this book deal should be asked at any SB candidate forums.
But that is usually run by the sycophants of PTAC so those questions will never be asked. And the parents around here are just soooo impressed with local government officials and candidates (which is just weird) that they won't pose the questions to the candidates either.
He's not going anywhere, other than going on book tour paid for by ACPS.

Same. How is this not a conflict of interest? I try to be supportive of ACPS leadership and would not normally care about his book deal. But he hasn't done a stellar job of reopening in Delta. Writing a book is very time consuming. I think Dr. Hutchings is an example of someone who is very smart and charasmatic, but not a good manager. I'm a fed and we have a lot of people like that in government. They get promoted for being impressive or using whatever buzzwords are in HBR.

It's in an agenda item for the school board meeting on Thursday evening (9/9) under Superintendent Contract Provision: Other Work Activities
"The Superintendent is also co-authoring a book with Georgetown Professor, Dr. Douglas Reed, and planning to have the book published in 2022."

Well, this link goes to a book published in 2011, and Hutchings isn't one of the authors. I think the person(s) who claimed that, were confused by an event on August 5th where he and another person (Dr. Reed) with a book recently published/coming out soon, were discussing the book, as well as ACPS. Thus, I have seen no mention anywhere, other than a comment on this forum, that he has an upcoming book.
Not too bright, are you? This was clearly a joke. Though our children are traumatized after last year's virtual school nightmare, no thanks to our terrible SI.

I am not going to stop my critiques of Hutchings just because I am going to be subject to the knee jerk response that I am a racist for daring to do so. Virtual school last year was a disaster that disproportionately harmed students of color and special needs students. In the lead up to this school year, Hutchings has neither been proactive in ensuring the students will be safe (slow adoption of mask and vaccination mandates / no creative solutions to make lunch safe) this fall nor spelled out how the learning loss and emotional toll of virtual learning will be addressed.
On the special needs side, just yesterday Terry Werner sent out a newsletter discussing a focus on addressing the pandemic effects of learning loss / emotional harm but it claimed ACPS’s position is that this all can be accomplished in just nine weeks and I am not sure how or when this was communicated to schools (it was not mentioned at all in the pre-school year meeting with my child’s team specified in his IEP).
100% agree. Hutchings being black has zero to do with anything. He's a shitty leader and bad at his job. Last night's school board meeting where he complained that too many people were emailing him about outdoor lunches was just another strike. He needs to GO.
