If the driver is older than 60, I assume they’re just a successful boomer who grew up when Cadillac meant something.

If the driver is an older millenial or gen X, I assume they’re unsophisticated and tacky, likely state school educated.

Don’t feed the troll people.

That's hardly a troll. Find me an Ivy Leaguer who drives a tacky a** Cadillac. These huge things sell to Black car taxi services in major cities and in Texas, Florida, and the Midwest to ostentatious state schoolers living in McMansions.

I know lots of Ivy Leaguers, many of whom are unable to accomplish even simple things like installing a router or changing the tire on a car. Being an Ivy only conveys something special to people who haven’t known many.

NP. +1 to all of this, plus the ones pictured are garbage American SUVs. More money than brains, for sure.

The large, V8, body-on-frame truck-based SUVs are not my style. I prefer smaller and nimbler. But if you like that sort of thing, I'm sure the Cadillac is nice.

The idea that they cost $100k, I guess it signals that you can afford a $100k car, or afford the lease payments or whatever. But big deal, so can almost all of us.

Unless you’re spending a large portion of your net worth on a car, you aren’t in the market for small and nibble cars that would impress anyone

No one cares about your car. There may be a small number of situations where someone will have a genuine interest in your car, like if it’s a race car or they are in the process of buying a similar car. But mostly people don’t care. Mostly they are not impressed, by the car itself or how much money you spent. If your car makes you very happy, that is nice for you. But no one else cares.

Listening to people talk about their cars is worse than listening to people talk about their extremely boring jobs. No interest.

For $100k I’m getting the mercedes GLS 550. Much better looking car and more luxurious. Couldn’t pay me to drive an American car.

There’s something about the styling on the Escalade that is more attractive and sleeker (?) than the suburbans, tahoes and Yukon (I have one of the latter cars). It also has a larger engine which accounts for some of the price difference and other “luxury” features standard that at least right now you cannot get on the other cars as options due to the microchip shortage. There are really very few large luxury SUV’s, so if that’s what someone is looking for, chances are that an Escalade is at least on their list. I see a lot of them with dip plates and “for hire” plates.

There is no big SUV or large pickup truck that impresses me. I think these are unattractive, but I pretty much think that about all of them. They are gas guzzling status symbols. Who cares which one someone buys?

Maybe popular because its competition looks so awful or dated?

The biggest Mercedes SUV, the GLS, looks like a minivan.

The biggest Lincoln looks like a big blob.

The biggest Tesla SUV isn't really that big and has been out for literally 10 years so it's really dated.

The biggest Range Rover, its current generation is also over 10 years old and looks super dated.

I guess if I tried I could see how this design is considered brasher and/or fresher than its competitors? Plus it has the best engine of any of its competitors, a big 6.2L V8. But man, $100,000 for this thing? I just don't see it at all.
