It’s pretty clear that eliminating mask requirements is not incentivizing vaccination. If that were the case, the CDC decision in May would have resulted in much higher vaccination rates nationwide. Instead, we had people going around in public unvaxxed and unmasked, leading to where we are now.

The only way it might work would be to tie loosening of mask requirements to reaching a certain vaccination rate in the community. But the “honor” system failed.


Yeah we tried “no masks if you’re vaxxed.” The same selfish a holes who wouldn’t mask before and didn’t vaccinate still didn’t mask and here we are while they fill up ICUs.

The only way out is to make being unvaccinated an inconvenient choice. They can still keep their righteous anger that they didn’t want it but HAD to get it to keep their job or go out to dinner but until more companies and employers make vaccination a requirement they will continue to stay unvaxxed and keep the rest of us dealing with their choices.

It really feels like this weird-seeming governor has been in office for like 20 years. But well done on this mandate.
