above info was for mom interested in psych career for her child

I used to work with higher functioning people and did a lot of therapy even though I am an MD, however that drained me very much, to the point of affecting my physical health,I preferred learning about therapy vs doing it, , now I work with nurses mostly in group homes, less energy loss

Are you GAO? When I was a House staffer I went to the GAO once for a meeting and I liked everyone I met there so much. They seemed so happy, too. I'm sure I felt it all the more acutely because I hated being a staffer so much!

I am now a writer. I am I/E - right on the line. I like having a bunch of short term things to do that I can give intense focus to, briefly. I also have longer term projects - I think I'd get too bored without them. I dislike anyone telling me how to spend my day but like having deadlines. I am one of those terrific ADHD people too so really who wouldn't want to hire me.

Engineer for a federal agency. I'm very introverted (to the point where even doing meetings can be a challenge) but have managed to make a niche for myself. On the flip side, I've always excelled at anything that requires a lot of attention to detail, which has been a major boon in highly technical work

Psychiatrist here. My salary has varied. Most places it's about $200-250k/yr and slightly more for child psychiatry if he wants to work with teens. Salaries are more or less government controlled though, so it's subject to change, and it looks like they are increasing, particularly in rural areas. It's also easy to work more if you want to make more money.
There would be a lot of opportunities to work with adolescents and their families either through the juvenile justice system, inpatient psychiatry unit, substance use rehab, eating disorders, adolescent DBT groups and clinics, or just general outpatient.

Many people do a combination of inpatient and outpatient, and it's rare to have a non-compete clause on a contract, so he could easily work in an outpatient clinic with teens and families and pick up PES (psychiatric emergency services) shifts as well.

I hope medical school goes well for him. Psychiatry is a great specialty!

I am INFP/INFJ and a litigator. Even though I am a pretty strong introvert, I enjoy the work and being a zealous courtroom advocate. I do get drained by small talk and after-work socializing, which is probably why I haven't advanced as much in my career as I could have.
