Start with Towson and transfer to UMD if he is not accepted to UMD as a freshman.
If you want to do the transfer route it’s better to start at community college. I know that seems counterintuitive but guaranteed transfer is for college of arts and sciences and for cc students.

In VA: Definitely the University of Lynchburg.
University of Tampa might also be a good fit.

My kid’s stats were as follows:
-5 AP classes including in the hard sciences
-GPA is not on a 4.0 scale at kid’s high school but kid was in top 10%. We don’t live in the DC area anymore.
-Years of work experience
-Did two varsity sports all four years

What an ass.
Explain why it makes me an ass to (1) make the clearly correct point that grades count more than test scores for most colleges and (2) that Fairfield is a nice school.

In New England you might want to consider these schools with a business focus:
Bryant in RI (accepts about 70% of applicants)
Bentley in MA (might be a stretch with a 3.0, but Bentley is less selective than Babson)

Did your kid take a rigorous courseload?
Public. 8 Honors classes and 3 AP classes (NSL, Chem, Macro/Micro Econ)
