I’d have your kid apply to possibly Pitt, NC State, College of Charleston, Towson, Univ SC, Salisbury, Elon, Univ of Delaware, University West Virginia, Michigan State.
While some of these might appear as reaches I’d do them.
The key to look for at any college applying to is whether your DC can get accepted directly to the business program if they do not then matriculation at college might be hard. Why make it hard? Hence being accept as a freshman is key.
I will be flamed at my list and the suggestion DC might not have a 3.0 gpa while in college but reality tells us most college students gpas correlate with HS within .5 so…..
OP my list is just examples Pitt being a reach. Theses are just starting points take my list find comparable schools. Skip schools like JMU that have limited enrollment programs to the business school.

Start with Towson and transfer to UMD if he is not accepted to UMD as a freshman.

-Fairfield

-Binghamton (OOS)
-Susquehanna
-U of Scranton
-Juniata
-A school that no one on DCUM would ever know
And others I can’t recall. She attends one of the first six schools I listed.
How much higher of a GPA? You realize that colleges care more about grades than test scores.
My guess is your kid ended up at Fairfield. Nice!
My kid’s stats were as follows:
-5 AP classes including in the hard sciences
-GPA is not on a 4.0 scale at kid’s high school but kid was in top 10%. We don’t live in the DC area anymore.
-Years of work experience
-Did two varsity sports all four years
I was trying to be helpful to OP but I won’t next time. Thanks for your kind reply!
I wasn't trying to be unkind. I was merely trying to tell you that your kid sounds like a stronger applicant than OP's. If you really want to help, tell the full story. Geez.
