Dentist here, and I agree with you 100%.

I only recommend extraction if they become a problem. I never send anyone for routine extractions.

And the whole “your wisdom teeth will push your other teeth forward and screw up your bite and/or cause other problems” is a straight up myth. Completely not true.

My husband grew up in a different state, different childhood dentist.

All of our dentists said unless there is a problem/impacted/infected, there is zero need to take them out. The industry was moving this way, just like tonsils. I had so many throat infections as a kid. My dad had his tonsils out at age 4. I was told they don't do it anymore.

My siblings and I never had ours out and never had any problems. We are all in our 50s now. Oh- my husband never has had his out either! He's almost 50.

My oldest had his removed at 15. My just turned 14 year old will probably be having hers removed sometime in the next year.

If you're being sarcastic, yes, it is a lunatic response.

Tonsil removal used to be standard & only rebel parents refused. Now it's standard to leave them in. Unless there is strong medical reason to remove.
